Type I and type II

Skin type I for tanning is characterized as that that easily burns, but does not tan. In other words, such skin types are not intended for tanning. However, there are special and mild tanning products that are recommended so people with such a skin type should not despair.

Skin type II is that skin which easily burns, but unlike type I, can be tanned naturally and through artificial tanning machines although minimally. People with this skin type are advised to stick to tanning services and products from salons instead of getting outdoors for actual sunlight.

Type III and type IV

Antonio Banderas and Brigette Bardot are Hollywood celebrities known to have type III skin type. Type II skin moderately burns but gradually tans to light brown. Hence, such people are advised also to get tanning under supervised and minimal use of tanning machines and products.

Actress Lucy Liu’s skin type is what is known as type IV skin type. This skin type minimally burns, but always tans to at least moderately brown. These people easily get dark skin even with just little exposure to outdoor sunlight. When in excess, sun exposure can lead to discoloration of the skin and formation and appearance of sun spots.

Type V and type VI

Type V skin for tanning rarely burns. However, tanning could lead to profuse skin coloration to dark brown. Tyra Banks best exemplifies type V skin for tanning. This skin type tans best at artificial tanning machine and techniques. But the skin easily gets burned, too, so most of the time, these people are advised to wear sunscreen.

Type VI skin for tanning is deeply pigmented and already insensitive to salon tanning. The skin also does not burn even with a more prolonged exposure to sunlight. The advantage of this type is that skin would tend not to be damaged even after a more prolonged sun exposure. The disadvantage is that it is hard to get a good tan at this skin.

Popular tanning techniques and procedures are usually falling futile. Some people are relieved upon having this skin because that means hectic and tedious work and services can be eliminated. Type VI skin is also almost similar to skin color of African natives, who are less prone to acquiring and developing such skin problems.

There is definite and recommended skin tanning techniques and products if you really need them. Choosing a good tanning salon would be essential because your specific skin type must need specific care and ingredient formulation. If you have already identified your skin type, make sure you get the necessary and recommended level and duration of tanning.
